Hello! Let me take the time to catch y’all up on what has happened since our last installment.
Dedicated and Passing COMLEX Level 1
You last caught me in the middle of my dedicated study period before my first board exam on my path to becoming a doctor of osteopathic medicine. Long hours and plenty of practice questions later I took COMLEX Level 1 on June 14th. I had to sweat an entire month before receiving my scores near the end of July, BUT I PASSED! All went well and I am one step closer to becoming a doctor and being able to share all the knowledge and skills I have learned along the way to take care of others!
Moving
After Tiffany and I took our COMLEX Level 1, it was time to move from Dothan, AL to our core site, Mobile, AL. It took Tiffany and I a few days to get settled, but we ended up making it the perfect home for our next 2 years!
4th of July Weekend!
With moving and boards behind us Tiffany and I decided to take a quick trip to Opelousas, LA to see some of Tiffany’s relatives and to celebrate a birthday and we had such a wonderful time! We were surprised with our very own cabin near where all the festivities were which was such an incredible gift! Overall, we had such an incredible time!
Quick “Layover” in Dallas
With our things mostly settled in Mobile and the 4th of July behind us Tiffany and I decided to make plans to see friends and family before returning prior to our orientation at the end of July. One of our plans was to see Tiffany’s friend Jessica in Dallas, TX! We had such a wonderful time and Jessica, and her family were such wonderful hosts I can’t thank them enough for their hospitality. We certinaly took some time to explore Dallas. We checked out some cool spots like the interactive art exhibit “Rainbow Vomit”, made it to the Dallas Farmers Market, went through the Deep Ellum neighborhood, went to the Bishop Arts District as well as paid respects to JFK at the memorial in Dallas.
Friends and Family in AZ
After our “layover” in Dallas it was finally time for me to head on home to AZ to see my friends and family that I haven’t seen since last year. Two wonderful weeks of catching up with friends and family were wonderful! I also coerced my family into letting me take some photos of all of us which turned out beautiful!
Orientation
Once back in Mobile it was not too much longer before Tiffany and I had our orientation before starting our 3rd year of medical school and continue to build our clinical experience.
Looking back this summer came and went. It feels like there is never enough time to do all that I want, but I was able to fit a lot into this summer and I am tremendously grateful for that. I cannot wait for what the next chapter of my journey will bring as I step foot into my clinical rotations.
