Wow, the time certainly has flown by! Another semester behind me and I can officially say I am halfway to becoming a DO. I am halfway to becoming a doctor! I am beyond grateful for the support I have from everyone as without it I would not have been able to make it through the 31 written exams, 13 practical’s, 9 OSCE’s, 800+ lectures all the while during a global pandemic! Feel free to scroll through and check out what I have been doing the last semester.
Making Bread
Since Tiffany and I ended up staying in Dothan, AL during our winter holiday I spent some time trying to learn how to cook bread. I figured when better than during a global pandemic to work on some new skills such as cooking and with my instantiable love of carbs bread was the obvious choice. I found a simple vegan recipe and after a few takes I think I figured it out!
Volunteering in the Southeast Health COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic and Receiving my COVID-19 Vaccine
Tiffany and I were also fortunate over the holiday and during the semester with being able to help bring the fight to COVID-19 by volunteering with Southeast Health’s Vaccine Clinic. Also we were able to get our COVID-19 shot! If you have not yet and you are able to consider getting your shot to help fight COVID-19!
Matching into Tiffany and I’s Core Site!
As the semester continued Tiffany and I navigated our schools internal match to our core site for our 3rd and 4th clinical years of medical school. We both ended up in the Mobile, AL area and were extremely happy to be heading to the same place together!
Falling in Love with Mobile and Finding a Place to Live
After finding out where we were going for our core site we ended up taking spring break to check out the area and take a few moments away from studying.
Birthdays!
As we sped into May we were able to take some time and celebrate birthdays with our friends! First off we celebrated one of our good friends Heath where a few of us got together to have some cake. Following that it was time to celebrate Tiffany with… more VEGAN cake! Then coming in near the end of may it was my turn. I can’t say enough how blessed I am to be surrounded with so much love. My birthday celebration culminated with a WONDERFUL powerpoint presentation given by Tiffany with pictures from all of my close friends and family. I was deeply touched by all of this and can’t begin to thank everyone for their contribution! That was something that was totally unexpected and makes me realize just how special and AMAZING Tiffany is and how grateful I am to have her in my life. Other Events and Pictures
While there was much much more that happened during this past semester, I don’t have nearly the time to put it all into this one blog post. Check out some other pictures below from other events that I just did not get the chance to write about.
As I look back It feels surreal to be moving onward to the clinical years as it seems like just yesterday, I was elated to have been accepted into medical school. This summer we buckle down to take our first round of boards, move to our core site, finish up credentialing and try to squeeze in a mini summer break just in time to start back up at the end of July. Stay tuned for what the next steps on this wonderful adventure!
