Gratitude,
It's official! I am now medical school bound!
For those of you who maybe have not been following my journey, I have been trying to get the stars to align for me to head to medical school to become a physician.
From extra classes in undergrad, working with the USAF for the opportunity, weekend classes postgrad, the MCAT and the application process to medical school, there were a multitude of challenges.
I had some early success last September when I was accepted to the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in Dothan, AL. BUT I still had to have the USAF agree to send me to medical school.
Late April 2019, I got word that I had received the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship. Sparing you the full details, this means I will have the opportunity to go to medical school come July 2019, that the USAF will fund me through this journey, and I will be coming back into the USAF as a physician after the completion of my medical studies.
With all the anxiety and uncertainty throughout this journey, the one thing that stayed consistent was the unwavering support from my family, friends, mentors and coworkers. Thank every one of you! I hope I live up to your high expectations as I proceed down this path. I am grateful for all of the support that each and everyone has showed me through this difficult and trying time and look forward to the challenge that lies in front of me!
Thank you!
