About Me
Jonathan, (“Jon”), was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ to an Optometrist (his mother) and an Engineer (his father). After high school; balancing his curiosity, his drive, and his unyielding desire to care for others; he decided to attend The Pennsylvania State University where he pursued Mechanical Engineering, AFROTC, and work as an EMT. Upon graduating with his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering December of 2016, he commissioned into the USAF as an officer. His first assignment was as a developmental engineer at the Los Angeles AFB in CA working for the Space and Missile Systems Center.
At Los Angeles AFB, he worked in the Military Satellite Communications directorate with the mission to develop, acquire, deploy, and sustain space-enabled, war-winning, global communications to support national objectives. A mission with responsibilities for managing the United States’ satellite communications portfolio, valued over $42 billion. Specifically, he worked in the strategic SATCOM division providing next gen NC3 (Nuclear Command, Control and Communications) systems for the warfighter.
Although he excelled as a developmental engineer, his true calling was to care for others. A passion stemming from his upbringing, as well as his experience as an EMT in college. He aspired to follow his passion by becoming a physician. While a couple years passed during his first assignment, he was fortunate enough to get into medical school as well as obtain the Air Force’s Health Professions Scholarship (aka Air Force HPSP) April of 2019. With this acceptance, funding, and the green light from the USAF, he was able to follow his passion by attending The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in Dothan, AL pursuing a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine.
Nearing the end of medical school and following the military and civilian NRMP match the fruits of his labor were realized by obtaining a civilian deferred position in Emergency Medicine for the USAF. Following graduation of medical school in May of 2023, he is privileged to join the Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center class of 2026 Emergency Medicine Residency in Toledo, OH starting July 0f 2023.
Hobbies for Jonathan include photography, and travel, but as a man with a diverse set of talents and an innate sense of curiosity who is afraid of complacency, this list is sure to grow as the years progress.
